I love itNovember 21, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had the TomTom Europe for almost 7 month and its the best thing that I have ever bought. So far no problem with it at all, started using it straight from the Box.Yes it didn't come with SD card at first and I was a bit worried but latter I learned all units are built in.Its great, I can go anywhere now with out asking.I want to rate it 4 becuase when I tried to stick it to the windscreen sometimes it keeps coming off apart from that GREAT!!!!
A few pointersOctober 22, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Had this item a couple of months now and while there are certain things that are incorrect on the maps I would suspect that every device will at some time or another will suffer this problem.
Possible solution to the holder falling off is to make sure that it isn't directly or indirectly in the way of the air flow generated by your windcreen heater/fan outlet, I have a golf and when the unit was stuck in the middle it always fell off (directly above the outlet) now I have it stuck on the right hand siade of the windscreen out of the way and no further problems with this.
For a change I didn't buy mine from Amazon, as my local Halford had it on a promo EU Maps & Speed camera, came with cig charger & home charger) 170.
With regard to support, use the tom tom website login and its all there, anything that isn't there will usually take 2 days for them to respond to. I found them generally speaking very helpful, others that I have spoken to having nothing but praise for them.
Only draw back I have found so far is that it won't do handsfree calling, although it will do the bluethooth plus service (traffic etc) I see this as being a bit pointless. Maybe a quick software upgrade could fix this?.
Overall I would recommend it as someone else said using this and a little common sense you can't go wrong
NOT SO GOOD AS THE HYPEOctober 21, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The service is so bad it is non-exsistant.The staff make up answers by each phone call.No Product Card Number in box for future down loads,TomTom can not help and staff dont know what to do.Western Europe Edition is a nightmare.OK, I know some routes are good, but going from Ilford to Dover Via A127 a mile away and the M25 it gets to the roads on the map screen after 3 hour's of trying, then on to the M25, it brings you back to South East London Via the A13 to start again.OK for some one who knowe's the area,as I do, but there are People who go round for 100s of miles trying to get to Dover.I would never buy it again, or recomend it to any one. A good A-Z and UK map is far Better for Every one.Yes it is good on SOME routes but get a bad one and your in the River.Dont waste you Money Chaps and Girls. Barry
Buyer beware - TomTom Home Software is PoorOctober 18, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Be careful, the Tom-Tom works great until you connect it to your computer. The Tom-Tom Home software erased all the maps on the unit before I backed it up. You cannot re-load the maps without returning it for service unless you backed them up. When I returned it for service, the wrong maps were loaded. Two trips back for service, still have the wrong maps. Now, the memory on the unit has failed requiring me to return it again. I would stay away from this satnav system. If you must buy it, use the SD card option and backup the unit the very first time you attach it to your computer. Best of luck, I would return it if I could.
Very good valueSeptember 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I borrowed one of these from a friend because I had to fly to Aberdeen and had quite a bit of driving to do there. It saved me so much hassle I decided to get my own when I got back. I use it a lot now and it really takes the pain out of getting from A to B. The satellite pick up time is quick (around 30 secs) and the maps are good. I have used this on small country roads in Ireland where the granularity of the mapping is not so good and it frequently thought we were in fields but soon got back on track again. If you do take a wrong turn the system recalculates the route with surprising speed. This is a great machine and is good value. Had to buy a wall charger and a case hence 4 stars.
